Key Responsibilities of an Staff Nurse, ICU Nurse and NICU Nurse:
Patient Assessment and Care:
- Direct patient care: Providing hands-on care, such as wound care, hygiene assistance, and assisting with mobility.
- Vital sign monitoring: Measuring and recording vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Medication administration: Administering prescribed medications, both orally and intravenously.
- Patient assessment: Gathering information about a patient’s condition, including medical history, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
- Pain management: Assessing and managing patient pain through various methods, including medication and comfort measures.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaboration with other healthcare professionals: Working with doctors, other nurses, therapists, and support staff to develop and implement care plans.
- Patient and family education: Providing information about health conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques to patients and their families.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Other Responsibilities::
- Equipment operation: Assisting with the operation of medical equipment and procedures.
- Supervision: May supervise junior staff, nursing students, or other support staff.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment: Ensuring patient areas are clean, safe, and well-equipped.
